You never know what you are going to see when you are on the highway! There is always the possibility for adventure wherever you are. While we sometimes go looking for adventure, more often than not it’s the adventure that finds us. We aren’t usually ready for it either.
In Brazil, highway patrol officers were on their normal rounds when they had an adventure find them.
While on a routine traffic stop, one group of patrol officers had an unexpected guest join them for their rounds! Getting out of their car, they completed some routine procedures and headed back to their car. When they got back, they noticed that there was someone waiting for them.
Turning the corner, the officers found a dog waiting in their car for them!
When you leave your door open, you usually expect something to be missing, not added! A dog had jumped into their car and was waiting for the officers to get back. Everyone was incredibly surprised and decided to look into the situation further.
Upon investigation, they realized that the dog had been abandoned.
In an unfortunate turn of events, the officers realized that the dog wasn’t just saying hello to them – he was looking for help. The dog appeared to have been abandoned on the highway and was needing some serious help. Highways are never safe places for animals to be or even humans.
“They were surprised,” officials wrote on Facebook, as translated. “He cried a lot. [He] appeared to have been abandoned on the side of the highway.”
Knowing that the dog was abandoned, the officers decided to help.
The dog seemed to be incredibly friendly and loving! Knowing that he wouldn’t last long out by himself on the highway, one of the officers let the dog ride in the car with him back to the station. Stray animals are incredibly common but the little pup needed someone to help him.
Naming the dog Rex, they drove back to the station.
It seems that Rex knew what to do when he needed help! When you have issues, you normally call the police and ask for help. It seems that someone taught Rex to do just that! When he was abandoned, he just found the nearest police officer and decided to hop into their car.
When they got to the station, the good boy would get the help he needed.
Pet shelters are always a rough place. For Rex, when he got to the station, someone saved him from the trouble of going to a place like that. Once he got to the station, someone fell in love with his personality and decided to adopt him!
It seems like Rex’s little introduction paid off.
While sneaking into a cop car isn’t the best way to get them on your good side, it seemed to work perfectly for little Rex here. He got saved and was given a forever home from his little trick.
