Gorilla Melts Hearts Checking On Injured Bird

November 30th, 2020

It’s not the size of the body that matters but the size of the heart.

There’s a lot of good out there. Random people go out of their way to help others who have one way or the other, lost everything or have hurt themselves. While humans are flawed, there is always goodness inside.

And then there’s animals. Creatures who are so pure. Who run on instinct and survival. It’s common to see cats and dogs carry out heroic deeds but what about the bigger, more unpredictable ones?

This gorilla put those doubts to rest.

In New South Wales, Australia, a bunch of visitors captured a moment so rare and beautiful that it garnered more than 355k views in under ten days.

Most people see gorillas as scary, intimidating brutes of nature. Partly thanks to Hollywood. Now of course they’ll fight back when they feel threatened but these huge animals are actually quite gentle. And smart.

The ladies were filming the enclosure from up top. Perfect view to see these majestic mammals.

A gorilla comes out and slowly makes his way towards the window. The ladies filming the moment were getting excited but what the gorilla does next shocks everyone up there.

An injured bird was on the grass and the gorilla bends over, nudges the bird gently, then lays down on the grass to observe the much smaller creature laying next to him. Extra emphasis on how gentle the gorilla is.

“The bird must be hurt.”

Says one of the women.

“Oh my goodness!”

Replied another.

The bird won’t fly. It’s hurt and the gorilla is trying to nudge the bird to move. The gentle giant took time out of his busy day to check on a visitor in his enclosure. A hurt visitor.

Mr. Gorilla was using his fingers to try and get the injured bird to fly. These are moments rarely seen, much less caught on video so this truly was special. Just look how the gorilla checks on the bird.

Is he talking to the bird?

It’s clear that the bird cannot fly. But that gorilla did his best. The huge creature walks away probably disappointed in the fact that he couldn’t do anything else to help the injured bird.

For an animal that can weigh up to 500 pounds, that’s unbelievable gentleness and dexterity.

The WWF actually describes them as such.

“Gorillas are gentle giants and display many human-like behaviors and emotions, such as laughter and sadness. In fact, gorillas share 98.3% of their genetic code with humans, making them our closest cousins after chimpanzees and bonobos.”

Don’t underestimate these animals.

They have been known to surprise humans with their intelligence and emotions. One quick search will result in lots of videos showing these big mammals interacting with humans. They’re great!

This is just one example of how awesome these gorillas are.

Sure, they’re powerful, fast, and able to destroy properties if they wanted to. But they don’t. they’d rather live in harmony with others. Gorillas just go about their day eating and socializing with their band.

This gorilla just proved that to have a bigger heart is much better. He doesn’t know it but he’s made people think and reflect on life matters.
