Grandpa brings beloved dog to furniture store to make sure she approves of his new chair
He trusted his dog with the most important decision!

When buying a new chair for your house, it seems funny to consider your animal’s opinion as well as your own. But when you actually think about it, our animals spend lots of time sitting on the living room furniture- sometimes even more time than us!

Despite the brand new, extra soft pet bed that we recently purchased, the fact of the matter is that our animals will often prefer to sit next to us on the couch, or even have a kip in our spot when we’re not there.

The seats we often sit in have our scent on them, making them a safe and comfortable space for our pets to go to sleep on. Cute, eh? So if we’re purchasing a new chair, it’s actually pretty important that our pets are a fan of the new one.

One man realized this, and when he selected a new chair from a nearby furniture store, he made sure that he took his beloved dog to get her full approval before he committed to bringing it home! Now that’s true love.

Aleecia Dahl’s grandfather wasn’t interested in getting a dog in the first place- but like all dads and grandpas out there, the dog that he ended up getting turned out to be the love of his life.

“Coco is the dog Grandpa never wanted but cannot live without,” Aleecia told The Dodo. “They are the best of friends that he never knew he needed.”

Coco and Grandpa do everything together and love nothing more than going for long walks out in the countryside. After their walks, they cozy up together on Grandpa’s chair, and that one piece of furniture is as much Coco’s as it is Grandpa’s.

So when the old chair was truly on its (ahem) last legs, Grandpa knew that any new chair that he was going to bring into the house would first have to have Coco’s sign of approval.

“When grandma and grandpa moved, they [needed to buy] new furniture,” Aleecia said. “It was Grandpa’s requirement that the footrest on his lounge chair was wide enough for him and Coco to sit side by side.”

To make sure that Coco truly approved of the new chair, Grandpa did the sweetest thing – and took Coco into the furniture store with him. Together, the man and his dog tried out multiple chairs in multiple different stores, and they didn’t stop until both had agreed that they had found the perfect chair. We’re sure that the store workers loved saying hello to Grampa’s chief decision-maker!

“He brought Coco into several stores to try out chairs until he found the perfect one,” Aleecia said. “Coco was always greeted with a smile, as I am sure it’s not every day a man and his dog go furniture shopping!”

The chair was comfortable and had enough room to fit both Coco and Grandpa on – so with that, Grandpa made the decision to take it home with him. We’re sure that Coco felt honored to have been able to make that decision with him. But there’s no one’s opinion that Grandpa honored more.

“She’s his little best friend,” Aleecia said.
