Mom handles baby elephant’s epic tantrum with classic parenting technique

May 15th, 2020

Just like human babies, young elephants feel emotion. That means they act silly, feel sad, and even get angry. In some instances, they even throw temper tantrums. But like human moms, those who’ve given birth to elephants have to take the upper hand. That’s what happened in one incident caught on video.

In this case, a baby elephant had a complete meltdown. We’re not quite sure why but his mom wasn’t having any of it. She used a classic parenting technique to let the little guy know who’s in charge. It’s hilarious.

He’s so cute

In a video that’s now been viewed almost 10,000 times, you see an adorable adolescent elephant. At first, he crosses a dirt road and then heads over to a field of tall grass.

A typical preteen

After sniffing the grass for a few seconds, he slowly lowers his body before plopping down on it. He appears to be having fun. He then picks his head up and looks off into the distance…almost as though he’s in deep thought.

He’s got an itch

It looks as though he has an itch on his backside so like all elephants, he begins rubbing his behind on the ground. Hey, you have to do what you have to do when you need to scratch an area and you don’t have any hands.

Mama’s not happy

To viewers, it all looks innocent enough but mom isn’t too happy with her son. She quickly approaches him. The person behind the camera keeps filming as they think there’s more going on than a little elephant scratching an itch. And they’re right.

So defiant

Just as his mom walks past, the little guy falls over. It’s not that he lost his balance but wanted to make a point. So, tumbles onto one side. It’s just too cute for words.

It’s a classic scene

This mom wanted her baby to follow her but he didn’t want to. So, he just stayed there on the dirt road, wallowing around as he threw a major temper tantrum. Aren’t kids’ fun at this age?

He’s not budging

This baby elephant is determined to have his way. Instead of doing what he’s supposed to, he stretches out on the road in complete defiance. Stubborn little fellow.

No response

Even as a massive bull walks by, he doesn’t care. By golly, he wants to stay right where he is and no one, not even his mom, is going to make him move. Yeah, right.

Wait for me

This mom pulled a classic move. She pretended she didn’t care if the baby stayed behind. But when he realized the other elephants had moved on without him, he quickly got to his feet and scampered after his family.

What a good mom

Of course, this mom wasn’t going to leave her baby to fend for himself but she had to teach him a lesson. If you don’t mind your mom, there are consequences.
