The video shows how true friendships are formed, and we could all take notes. 🙂

Animal friendships, no matter how unusual, are always heartwarming. More than the sweetness of it all, animal friendships educate us further on just how certain species are when it comes to coexisting and adapting. Witnessing animals befriend each other is always a treat.

It also makes you realize just how much we can learn from them.

While there are countless stories of animals approaching humans first and extending friendly gestures, there is nothing quite like a smooth, sweet, and sometimes funny interaction between animals who are complete opposites.

As an example of an unlikely friendship, here’s a cat and fawn getting to know each other.

The rescued deer was probably adjusting to its new home when the neighbor’s cat decided to give it a warm welcome.

Surprising, isn’t it, that it was the fluffy kitty who made the first move?

See, we all know cats aren’t always sociable. In fact, they’ve earned quite the reputation for being sassy and standoffish. However, it isn’t fair (and accurate) to conclude that all of them would much rather slink off to a corner than mingle with humans and other animals.

They’re not as fearful an animal as we all think either. So even if they’ve inspired the phrase “scaredy cat” too, it’s safe to say not all cats are skittish and anxious.

This brave kitty just proved some of those misconceptions wrong.

The adorable cat wanted to befriend a fawn moving quietly about. Without hesitation, the cat approached the graceful animal and reached out first. Cue gushing here.

There was a lot of circling and sniffing, each curious about the other, but it didn’t take long before the kitty started nuzzling the fawn. Its height and long legs didn’t intimidate the eager cat at all. In fact, the cat seemed to enjoy weaving through its legs.

The fawn didn’t hold back on the affection, either.

With gentleness, it started licking the kitty’s ears. The feline in turn, started swishing its tail slowly in contentment.

Other cats would have bolted. In fact, not all cats would think of walking up to a fawn and initiating communication. And maybe we can say the same for fawns. We’re pretty sure not all fawns would stand there and reciprocate the gesture.

We don’t know for sure if the cat sees this as a triumph. “Look, another species to lord over!”

But judging from the way they interacted with each other, it’s a friendship that’s sure to last.

Watch how they become more playful with each other, and how one slowly follows the other. It looks like they balance each other out perfectly.

How comforting it must be for the kitty and fawn to know that they’ve found a friend and playmate in each other.

If animals from different habitats with varying temperaments can get along and live alongside each other peacefully, why can’t we?

There is nothing like a story of animal friendship to put things into perspective. We can just imagine how much more delightful it would be to actually witness these two in person.
