Street dogs deal with different problems everyday and life is more difficult for the other strays who are living in a place where abuse is observable. This dog had to keep her eyes open so she could always be aware of his surroundings. Fortunately, she was found by animal rescuers and was immediately taken to someone who could foster him.

It all happened when a rescuer happened to rescue some street dogs in Tehran.

The dogs were barking but it was because they were afraid of something. They are such in a bad state, as some of the dogs have dislocated joints, broken bones, and other health problems.

Maryam Sanei, the founder of the MRT Dog Sanctuary that is based in Tehran, the capital of Iran, was the one who rescued these poor dogs. However, she alone could not handle taking care of a large number of dogs by herself so she contacted Animal Haven, another dog shelter in NYC, to take some off her hands.

Animal Haven asked for help to foster one particular dog that they got from Iran.

Tedi Sarah loves animals so much that when she got an email from Animal Haven asking if she could help foster a dog for them, she immediately accepted. The dog’s name was Pani, and she is a Maltese dog.

Sarah learned that Pani had a broken back and her hind legs were paralyzed. Sarah immediately welcomed the dog to her home the moment they arrived from the shelter where Pani was.

Sarah was heartbroken when she learned something peculiar about Pani.

Sarah noticed that Pani would only sleep with one eye open. Perhaps it was because Pani learned to always be aware of her surroundings as she lived her life in the streets of Tehran. She was always cautious, and even when she gets too tired, she forces herself to keep her eyes open all the time.

Moreover, Pani developed a destructive behavior where she just grabs random things and chews on it. Sarah knew she had to help this dog.

Her efforts made it possible for Pani to sleep well at night.

Sarah began her fostering regimen after Pani got her wheelchair. She would take him to walk and water therapies to strengthen her lower back, and even takes him to casual walks with her special wheelchair.

Moreover, she showers her with the right amount of love and affection, making Pani feel comfortable and safe around her.

After three months, Pani finally learned how to sleep with her eyes closed. She would let go of her worries and anxieties and just sleeps on the bed in a vulnerable position.

Pani knew well that she could trust her foster mom.

It became impossible for Sarah to let go of Pani.

An animal foster’s job is to provide a temporary home for an animal before they are sent away to a better home. However, Sarah has bonded with Pani long enough that it did not feel right for her to give Pani away to someone else.

With all the sad thoughts in her head, she decided to adopt Pani as her own instead. Fortunately, the adoption process was accepted and she was able to take Pani home for good.

“She just blessed my life,” Sarah told The Dodo. “And it was an absolute miracle I never expected.”
