You can’t take your eyes off of toddlers for one second. Somehow, they always manage to find trouble. This panda cub is no exception.
The panda’s mother napped. She’d had a hard day of being a mom, so it was hard to blame her.
But as she snoozed, her baby got curious. What was that human doing on the other side of the bars, he thought. So he crawled up to the edge of the cage and slipped through.
Soon, the cub had wandered far from the edge of the cage.
Then the human, who was cleaning the enclosure, turned around and saw the cub.
At the same time, the panda mom woke up and saw that her baby was on an adventure.
Both the human and the panda mother approached the cub.
The human assumed that the mom would handle things from there, so she got back to her work.
But then the cub crawled out of the mother’s grasp. He crawled towards the human, who was looking away.
Then the human turned around and realized that the mother panda needed a hand. So she walked up to the cub and picked him up.
She set the cub down by the bars and carefully moved him through.
Then the mother lightly bit onto the cub’s ear and pulled him away. If she were a human, she’d have been saying, “What have I told you about wandering off and bothering people when they’re at work?”
The mom then held onto the panda cub tight, ensuring that he wouldn’t escape again.
This adorable moment then appeared on YouTube, where it soon went viral. To date, it has gained over 37 million views. It also has more than 236,000 likes and 8,500 comments. People have been saying things like this:
Clearly, people all over the world can relate to this mother and cub.
The mom is called Cheng Da and the cub is named Cheng Lan. They both live at the Chengdu Research Base, where they have an amazing life.
And this isn’t the only viral hit to come from Chengdu Research Base. In fact, it’s a hotbed of hilarious panda content.
The second and third most popular videos document a group of panda cubs and their “war” with their human nanny.
The first video begins by showing when the nanny had to pull a panda cub away from a basket full of leaves that she had just been raking.
The cub wanted to wreck her hard work and play with those leaves!
The camera then turned to show a crowd of delighted onlookers. They probably all wanted the cub to get away with his antics!
But then the cub just rushed straight back to the basket of leaves, determined to have fun!
And the battle between this cub and the nanny went on for 8 minutes!
The second video shows the time when that cub recruited four of his friends to terrorize the nanny even more.
If the cubs weren’t so cute, the second video would be horrifying. The cubs nipped at and wrestled with the nanny. And they just kept on coming.
Eventually, the nanny was able to complete her work, but thanks to the panda cubs, it took her 10 times longer to do it than it would have taken!
